Put the geometry, critical requirements and order details in one consistent brief.
If you already have CAD
Send a STEP model for three-dimensional geometry and a PDF drawing for dimensions, tolerances, threads, material and finish. A DXF can describe a flat profile. Confirm the file format required for your process during review; a model alone often leaves the acceptance requirements unclear.

If you have a sketch
Show the surrounding assembly, available space, mounting points and movement. Mark known dimensions and distinguish measurements from estimates. A photo with a ruler can explain scale, but critical dimensions still need to be confirmed in the engineering drawing.
Do not tighten every tolerance by default
Identify the features that control alignment, sealing, movement or assembly. Discuss the general tolerance for the rest. Unnecessarily tight requirements can increase machining and inspection work without improving the function.
Before sending
- The model and drawing carry the same revision.
- The units, quantity, material and finish are clear.
- Critical surfaces and inspection requirements are identified.
- Superseded files are marked so they cannot be mistaken for the approved version.
